Everyone has an opinion when it comes to music. There's no arguing that. Hoefully the list that we've compiled of Top Ten Love Songs will appeal to your musical senses. Some may even surprise you.
- "With Thee I Swing" -- Billie Holiday lets you know that love is fun and that you can dance to it. Classic, jazzy tune from one of the finest voices ever.
- "Besame Mucho" -- Several musicians have performed this song, giving it their own stylings. (seen the 1998 version of Great Expectations.) But you can't ever escape the fact that it's about love. All they want is a kiss, a bunch of them. The Brazililan recording by Joao Gilberto is excitement!
- "I Want You to Want Me" -- Cheap Trick had a great idea. Write a song about exactly what goes on in your mind when you like someone. Several others have covered it, and they're all great. Letters to Cleo have a fun version on the 10 Things I Hate About You soundtrack.
- "Let's Do It (Let's Fall In Love)" -- Cole Porter, the king of love songs, has written one of the "cutest" love songs ever. Whether you listen to a sweet version or the rocking Joan Jett/Paul Westerberg one, it's all about falling in love.
- "The First Cut is the Deepest" -- Sadness is part of the experience of love. Cat Stevens wrote a fantastic song and Rod Stewart made a wonderful recording. No matter what, you'll love again.
- "Wild Horses" -- Mick Jagger and Keith Richards weren't messing around with this one. If there has ever been a song that rips at your heart, this is it. You never forget this song because it really makes you feel - just like love. (The Sundays have a great version, too.)
- "Perfect Day" -- Lou Reed captured that feeling when you relax after spending time with someone you like. It's perfect and you'll be glad you spent it with him because it makes you float, just like the song.
- "Have You Ever Been Lonely (Have You Ever Been Blue)" -- Jim Reeves and Patsy Cline are discussing the difficulties of loving each other, and the fact that they can't help it. It's a very cool sample of the country music icons at work.
- "Ring of Fire" -- Johnny Cash (Social Distortion, too) told us the truth. Love is a burning thing, and it makes a fiery ring. Rockin' love songs are a good break from the heart-wrenching, tear-jerkers.
- "La Vie En Rose" -- La Vie en Rose [Sony] Edith Piaf is another great one for classic love songs. This song is the epitome of love - the magic, the idolatry, the perfection. Louis Armstrong performs a wonderful version with a fantastic trumpet solo.
